About This Workshop
The How to Write Grants and Understand
the Evaluation Process Workshop will
not only teach you how to write and submit a
successful grant application, but you will
learn tips to beat your competition by
creating an application that wins high peer
review points. Also, you will learn how to
better understand the grant review process.

Diana Amy Chidsey offers over ten
years of governmental research, evaluation,
program administration and successful grant
writing expertise, focusing on the public
safety sector. Mrs. Chidsey joined CH2M HILL
as their Grant Coordinator in January 2005,
assisting CH2M HILL clientele in strategically
securing homeland security and public safety
grant funding. CH2M HILL clients are afforded

Writing Process
This session will review the critical
differences between reactive grant writing and
program planning, and will describe the
planning efforts that need to occur for
proposals to be seriously considered by
funders.
8:45 - 9:45am: Locating Grant Funding
This session will review sources of federal,
state, and private funding, and will
demonstrate effective methods for researching
grants and maintaining relationships with
funders.
9:45 - 10:00am: Break
10:00 - 10:30am: Assessing the Funding
Opportunity
This session will explain how to assess each
funding opportunity to determine if it is a
good fit for your organization.
10:30 - 11:15am: Grant Writing
Starters and Keys to Writing Winning Grants
This session provides direction on how to plan
for and begin the grant writing process
properly, and will provide an introduction to
the key grant writing points required to write
a winning grant.
11:15 - 11:30am: Questions and Answers
on Grant Writing Pre-Planning
11:30 - 12:30pm: Lunch on your own
12:30 - 1:45pm: Grant Application
Components
This session will review the individual
components of a grant application, explaining
the purpose of each section, what funders are
looking for, and key tips. Successful samples
of grant application components will be
reviewed.
1:45 - 2:00pm: Break
2:00- 2:30pm: Post Grant Submission Processes
This session will review the grant evaluation
process, and will teach you how to handle a
rejection as well as an award.
2:30- 3:00pm: Program
Implementation Requirements
This session will teach you the key steps for
successful program implementation, an
essential requirement to receive continuation
funding. This session will also review a
number of reasons for why programs fail and
how they can be prevented.
3:00-3:15pm: Wrap up and Additional
Questions and Answers

CANCELLATION POLICY:
You may designate a substitute
in writing any time before the event. If you
need to cancel your registration, you must
send your notice in writing and will be
subject to a $50 processing fee. No refunds
are given for cancellations received 3
