Colonel John Mercier, Ph.D., PE, DABR

Colonel Mercier currently serves at the Armed Forces Radiobiology Research Institute (AFRRI) as Director of Military Medical Operations with oversight of the Medical Effects of Ionizing Radiation (MEIR) Course and the Medical Radiobiology Advisory Team (MRAT).

His previous duties have included Radiological Consultant to the Multinational Corps in Iraq, NATO and the Senior Umpire for the Sampling and Identification of Radiological Agents (SIRA).  Colonel Mercier was the leader of the US Army Radiological Advisory Medical Team (RAMT), Chief of Health Physics at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, and Chairman of the DoD Nuclear Weapons Effects Human Response Panel.

Colonel Mercier is a licensed nuclear engineer, licensed nuclear plant senior reactor operator and a licensed medical physicist. He is also board certified in Diagnostic Radiological Physics and Medical Nuclear Physics.
