Rob Housman is a Partner with Book Hill Partners, a public affairs, government relations and strategic planning firm (www.bookhillpartners.com). His practice focuses on national and homeland security. His clients range from Fortune 500 companies, to national governments, to cutting edge technology companies.

Before joining BHP, he was a principal in his own firm, the Housman Group. He has also co-chaired the Homeland Security Practice Group of Fleishman-Hillard Government Relations. Before his tenure at FHGR, Mr. Housman was Counsel to the Government Relations and Strategy Section of Bracewell & Patterson. During this time, he helped found the law firm’s homeland security practice group.

From 1997 to 2001, Mr. Housman was Assistant Director for Strategic Planning in the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP). As an adviser at large to Gen. (ret.) Barry R. McCaffrey he had input on virtually all aspects of our nation's counter drug policies. His work included port and border security, counter-money laundering efforts and analyzing the links between terrorist organizations and drug cartels.

Before joining the White House staff he was a lawyer in private practice.

He teaches homeland security for the University of Maryland, University College and has also taught international law at the American University Law School and national security at the Syracuse University's Maxwell School, Washington Program.

He is a contributing author of the Homeland Security Law Handbook, and has written extensively on policy issues in publications including the Los Angeles Times, the Miami Herald, the Washington Times, the Legal Times, the Dallas Morning News, Forbes.com, Security Management and the Journal of Commerce.
