About this Workshop:

The only good that comes out of any major tragedy is that people at high levels react by trying to offer an overnight prevention or cure. Money, technology, manpower and new concepts of operation arise from these events just as they did following the events of 9-11-2001. Sadly though, the more time that passes away from the events, that support tends to dwindle and we get back into an era of complacency. Professionals in the Security industry are not usually as willing to fall back into that lull, but Congress, heads of major corporations and so on, start to realize they are not just in the security business and must continue to manage money and make profits by reducing costs and accepting risk. The Risk Based Strategies for Physical Security Workshop will help you determine your real requirements and the capability/limitations of your existing systems. We will use somewhat of a scientific method to recommend procurement of the best solutions that will yield the highest probability of detection while ensuring the lowest error rate. This will help corporate leadership best decide where to spend money they are willing to commit to security and how much is enough (or too much) given the existing threat and current vulnerabilities.

What You Will Learn:

  • How to establish and articulate your true security requirements based on mission
  • How to determine the threat and the capabilities of a threatening organization
  • How to tie the results of physical security inspections to vulnerabilities
  • How to use vulnerability funding for risk mitigation
  • How to examine the efficiency of your existing security systems
  • How to compare effectiveness of security solutions using Cost Benefit Analysis
  • How to draft a comprehensive security program using Risk Based Assessment
  • What technology applications are available to help mitigate risk
  • How to present a comprehensive program using Risk Based Investment Strategies

A Homeland Defense Journal "Certificate of Completion" will be provided to all attendees upon conclusion of the workshop.
