About this Workshop:
The Introduction to Terrorism & CBRNE – Basic Awareness Workshop
will provide you with a very comprehensive introduction to terrorist groups, their
methodologies, the threat they pose and the Chemical, Biological, Radiological,
Nuclear and Explosive (CBRNE) weapons at their disposal.
This workshop is designed as a strong primer on Terrorism and the potential use
of CBRNE weapons. The targeted goal of this workshop is to provide the informational
and familiarization needs of individuals working in or around what may be considered
as attractive terrorist targets such as; large office complexes, schools, industries,
transportation centers, government centers, convention centers, stadiums, shopping
centers, tourist attractions, amusement parks, fairs, festivals or any other venue
expected to attract large crowds.
This workshop is not designed to provide operational first responder training rather
it is designed to provide comprehensive general knowledge for the participant to
accurately identify, qualify and quantify the needs of their organizations in managing
the threat of terrorism. It will provide you with a practical understanding of the
groups, the threat, and the weapons that may used. At the end
of the class, you will be able to develop an effective policy and terrorism training
program for your organization.

- Terrorist Ideologies
- Terrorist Goals & Objectives
- Modus Operandi
- The Threat – Overview of their methodologies and past events as a forecast
of possible future events.

Attendees will:
- Be able to develop several multistep processes to take back to their
organizations as lists of core goals to help develop their organization’s
approach to managing events. These include:
- A five step best practice process on defining the organization’s vulnerabilities
- A five step best practice process on developing the organization’s preparedness
posture
- A Six step best practice process on an initial response to a terrorist event
- Develop checklists of proposed actions that may be taken in developing
awareness and familiarity with Terrorism and CBRNE awareness. Checklists include:
- The Terrorist Threat Checklist – groups posing the greatest threat to the
organization
- CBRNE Protective Measures Checklist – principal protective measures aimed
at developing the organization’s preparedness posture
- Initial Response Checklist – initial response action for responding to a developing
terrorist event
- Participate in two student exercises to develop familiarity
with the class lectures. Group exercises cover:
- Who are the Terrorist and what is the Potential Threat
- What are the CBRNE Agents

CANCELLATION POLICY: You may designate a substitute in writing any time before the
event. Cancellation requests must be sent in writing (email or fax) and will be
subject to a $100 processing fee. No cancellations or transfers are accepted within
2 (two) weeks prior to the event start date or later. PLEASE NOTE: No shows will
be liable for the entire registration fee. In the rare occasion that an event is
cancelled or postponed, please note our reimbursement is limited to paid tuition
only.

Workshop Location:
The workshop will be held in the Homeland Defense Training & Publishing (A Division
of Government Horizons Global Inc.) Training Center in the Jefferson Plaza Building
at 1421 Jefferson Davis Highway (7th floor), Arlington, VA 22202. Public parking
at the facility is available for $10.00 early morning special (before 8:00am) or
$18.00 all day. The Jefferson Plaza Building is just two blocks from the Crystal
City Metro Station on the blue and yellow line. Please note: the parking garage
is located on Crystal Drive.
