About this Workshop:
The Emergency Capabilities Analyst workshop aims to equip state/local government
emergency managers to examine in detail their community's readiness for scenario-based
emergencies which allows a systematic examination of resources, technology, equipment
and other factors needed for effective response. The workshop also aims to help
communities identify areas where preparedness and mitigation efforts may be useful
and permits senior leaders an assessment of actual emergency response under controlled
conditions. The program suggests intensive tabletop games, in-depth interviews,
leader training and actual deployed exercises as mechanisms for analyzing emergency
capabilities
Attendees Will:
- Develop an outline of basic capability analysis methods and determine
best approaches
- Use a checklist to measure emergency management capabilities against
scenario-based tasks and requirements
- Review alternative methods for conducting capabilities analysis
- Step-by-step guidance in identifying avenues for using capabilities
analysis as a training tool for emergency staff and as a motivator of enhanced readiness
- Complete two in-class exercises to equip them for conducting a capabilities
analysis

CANCELLATION POLICY: You may designate a substitute in writing any time before the
event. Cancellation requests must be sent in writing (email or fax) and will be
subject to a $100 processing fee. No cancellations or transfers are accepted within
2 (two) weeks prior to the event start date or later. PLEASE NOTE: No shows will
be liable for the entire registration fee. In the rare occasion that an event is
cancelled or postponed, please note our reimbursement is limited to paid tuition
only.

Workshop Location:
The workshop will be held in the Homeland Defense Training & Publishing (A Division
of Government Horizons Global Inc.) Training Center in the Jefferson Plaza Building
at 1421 Jefferson Davis Highway (7th floor), Arlington, VA 22202. Public parking
at the facility is available for $10.00 early morning special (before 8:00am) or
$18.00 all day. The Jefferson Plaza Building is just two blocks from the Crystal
City Metro Station on the blue and yellow line. Please note: the parking garage
is located on Crystal Drive.
